Scarecrows are a big part of Halloween.  And since so much of our work is Halloween based, we wanted to make a scarecrow that would embody the very spirit of Halloween. 

Long Live the King!

The head of this prop is cast in latex from one of our own sculptures and hand painted. Both the head and hands are designed to attach to a PVC pipe armature.  He is mounted here on a PVC frame that stands nearly 7 feet tall! 

The hands are the real unique quality of this prop.  The hands are completely hand made. No molds or pre-made parts were used to make the hands.  They were made with fabric and latex and each finger was individually shaped by hand.  The hands were then painted to give the hands a "gnarled branch" quality

 

 

There is a PVC pipe embedded in the neck which allows the head to be easily placed on the PVC frame.  This allows the head to be turned left and right.

The arms can be posed in almost any position using various PVC connectors.

This is the PVC frame used in some of the photos above.  You can see what a simple design it is. Simple but very effective!
